Meet the JFSOD Fam: Mrs. Denise
Updated: Nov 19, 2018
Each month, we'll be (re)introducing you to our incredible staff. Take peek into how they got involved in the dance community, how they landed at JFSOD and a few fun facts about them.
Name
Mrs. Denise AKA "Miss Neece" to my 3 year olds
What classes do you teach?
New 3/4's, Advanced Intermediate Tap and Jazz, and Junior Company Tap
When/how did you start dancing?
My grandmother and mother both danced, so I started dancing as soon as I was able (3 years old). I grew up dancing at the Mulcahy School of Dance in Florence, KY and also participated in local and traveling dance teams.

When/how did you start teaching?
I was an assistant teacher at my home studio, choreographed dances for the dance teams, and taught as a college student at Gotta Dance in Lexington, KY. I have always loved teaching (reading, English, dance, decorating, Bible study) so I can't remember exactly when I started.
Favorite thing about JFSOD?
My favorite thing is the family atmosphere. The staff, teachers and students all really care about one another. This provides and environment where dancers can express themselves and learn and grown together without comparison or fear of failure.
Favorite hobby outside of dance?
Time with my husband and kids, decorating, cooking, and I have recently taken up hand lettering (modern calligraphy).
What's one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
Although I love dancing and performing, I am also a book nerd. I have a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science.
Favorite food?
Chips and salsa and hamburgers (I know, not particularly healthy!)
What's your guilty pleasure?
Anything chocolate
Dance idol(s)?
My grandmother, Bernie, who was a professional dancer, Fred Astaire and J-Lo!
What's one thing you admire about another JFSOD family member?
I admire my daughter, Anna Claire, because she works incredibly hard to perfect her craft. She is also a kind person who encourages others. It brings me great joy to watch her dance!
I also admire Mrs. Beth because she works so diligently to take care of the administrative details that are so important to keep the studio running smoothly! (All the JFSOD staff are terrific. I could list something about each one!)
